oh lordy

oh lordy have i got some more 'splaining to do...

i found a sweet book that hazel must have written sometime the last week of school. at the age of six, she really "gets" some things and others, well, not so much. the whole traveling to china thing she gets that she is from there and we will visit people who took care of her when she was a baby. i obviously have some more talking to do about birth parents and likely impossibility that we might meet them.

translation page one: my trip about china, by hazel
page two:i am going to see my birth mother. i am giving her a necklace just like mine i am going to give her a tree necklace. we are going to meet up with people.
page 3: we are going to spend my sisters birth day and we are going to sleep on the great wall of china. the end

i got the girls each necklaces for themselves and a matching necklace to give to their foster mom or caregiver to have. ruby's is a butterfly and hazels is a tree. i've already talked to ruby about the chance that we won't be able to see her foster mom and so she can decide which special friend she wants to give the matching necklace to. now it seems that my explaination to hazel was retranslated to her six year old brain and we need to work on that one!

  1. We adopted our daughter (now 5.5) from Guangdong province in 2006. It was December (and hot) and I swore the same thing...that I would never return there in the heat. We have recently contacted a searcher in China to look for our daughter's birth family. I am envious of your trip. Your daughter's book is very sweet. Have a safe and wonderful trip.
